The Magic of Lories and Lorikeets!

Lories and lorikeets are number one at LoryMagic! We're a growing source of knowledge on all aspects of loriculture. Please browse the lory photos and notes from contributing members, or become a LoryMagic member yourself and add photos and notes of your own! We make it easy, and it's free!

LoryMagic is designed to give every lory and lorikeet enthusiast a "web presence" without the hassle and expense of an independent website. Anyone can participate, and everyone benefits — particularly the lories.

Note that this website lets each member manage their own "little shelf of knowledge." This differs from a discussion forum, which consists of lots of topics and lots of replies that may or may not be meaningful. To participate in a lory discussion forum, please visit Yahoo's Lory Breeder group.

For a great selection of bird cages and bird toys, please visit Birdguys.com. They are the only online bird store you'll need!

LoryMagic.com's creator (Peter Jensen) is shown below in an old photo from 1987-ish. The bird shown was hatched by a pair of green nape lorikeets discovered in a pet store in Idaho Falls. Such a find remains a minor miracle in Idaho, with a probability of around one in 50 gazillion. At the time it was even more fantastic — could it be Lory Magic?

Lory Guy and Green Nape Lorikeet Shortly after the photo was taken, Mr. Jensen dropped his lory/parrot interest — in retrospect, a severe case of poor judgement. Now, many years later, he is "back in the game."

New! Goldfish Fungus Page

For the Neophite

What is a lory? Maybe this description comes close. They are like otters with wings. Even when they're in a bad mood, they are always "up beat."
They are interested in everything. If you are running a power saw inches from their aviary, they will fly over to investigate... even while the saw is running.

Warm Fuzzies

No worries! Lory Magic makes everything easy. The toughest part is simply remembering your password. Even photo uploads are easy. If your lorikeet photos are "too big" for our design, the server automatically shrinks them. And we don't sell our email list, so you don't have to worry about a bunch of new spam.
  • Easy membership signup.
  • Options to conceal identity.
  • Concise in-line instructions.
  • Automatic password reminders (via email) if you forget your password.
  • Lory Magic assumes no copyright on your material (your lory stuff belongs to you).
  • No mess, no muss.
  • Database search capability is coming.

The Rules

(1) Please stay on-topic. Photos and notes must pertain, at least tangentially, to lories and lorikeets. If your content departs significantly, then it will be removed.

(2) All new members begin with a small photo allotment. To increase your photo count, simply contact the webmaster. Please include your username with your request.

(3) Certainly it's permissible to question other members' input; however, this should be done thoughtfully and accurately (no bad-mouthing).

(4) If you see something that's inappropriate for this website, please Tell Us.

(5) Remember: lories are "the Bomb." We like lories.

Bugs Fixed 11/03:
(1) Clarification of "Username" in Auto-Email for member signup.
(2) Cross-member photo/notebook ordering problem.
